Flying with a Dog from Argentina to Canada — Requirements

Valid rabies vaccination certificate required. Vaccine must have been administered by a licensed veterinarian and be current at the time of arrival.

Official health certificate issued by a government-accredited veterinarian in Argentina. Must be issued within 10 days before the dog's arrival in Canada and certify the dog is healthy and free of signs of infectious disease.

Commercial imports or dogs imported for resale require a CFIA import permit. Personal pets travelling with their owner generally do not require a permit, but verify with CFIA if in doubt.

Argentina is on the CFIA list of screwworm-affected countries. The dog must be examined and treated for screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) by a government-authorised veterinarian prior to export. A certificate of treatment must accompany the dog.
