Vaccinations

Rabies vaccination (dogs over 4 months)
Current rabies vaccination required for dogs over 4 months of age. The vaccine must be documented in the health certificate. Dogs under 4 months of age are exempt.

Documents

Animal Export Health Certificate (Apostilled or Authenticated)
An export animal health certificate for small species issued by the official sanitary authority of the country of origin. The certificate must certify the dog is in good health and has a current rabies vaccination (for dogs over 4 months). The certificate must be apostilled (if the origin country is a Hague Convention member) or authenticated by the Panamanian Consulate.

Quarantine

40-day home quarantine
Your dog must stay within the premises of your home for 40 days after arrival in Panama. A fee of B/.130.00 (USD $130) per animal is paid in cash on arrival at the airport. During the home quarantine period, the dog must have no contact with domestic or wild animals. Consult a vet for an immunisation and nutrition programme.

Other Requirements

Advance arrival notification (3 business days)
Notify MINSA of your pet's arrival at least 3 business days in advance by completing the Home Quarantine Request form. Submit to cam@minsa.gob.pa or the MINSA office at Tocumen International Airport (Departamento de Control de Zoonosis). MINSA offices are only open Mon–Fri; pets arriving on weekends or public holidays are held in airport kennels until the next business day at the owner's expense.

Physical inspection at Tocumen Airport
On arrival, present all documents to the MINSA Zoonosis Control Department veterinarian at the airport for document and physical verification before home quarantine begins.
