Flying with a Dog from Germany to Australia — Requirements

Two doses of an inactivated or recombinant rabies vaccine administered at least 30 days apart. Dog must be at least 12 weeks old at the time of first dose. RNA vaccines (mRNA-based) are NOT accepted.

An import permit from DAFF must be obtained before travel. Apply well in advance.

Dog must wait 180 days from the date the blood sample was taken for the titre test before it can travel to Australia.

Official government-endorsed health certificate issued by an accredited vet within 5 days before departure.

Blood sample for RNATT must be taken at least 21 days after the last rabies vaccination. Result must be ≥0.5 IU/mL. Test must be performed by a DAFF-approved laboratory. The blood sample date starts the 180-day countdown.

Dog must be fitted with an ISO 11784/11785 microchip before vaccination.

All dogs entering Australia must complete 10 days of post-arrival quarantine at the DAFF-approved Mickleham facility. Costs at owner's expense.

Treatment for fleas, ticks, and other external parasites applied within 5 days before departure, recorded on health certificate.

Treatment for internal parasites applied before departure and recorded on the health certificate.
