Flying with a Dog from United Kingdom to Canada — Requirements

While not required by federal law for dogs from low-risk countries, carrying a recent letter from your vet confirming your dog is healthy and up to date on vaccinations is strongly recommended. CBSA officers have discretion to request documentation.

Canada does not legally require a microchip for dog imports, but ISO 11784/11785 microchipping is strongly recommended for identification and reunification if your pet is lost.

You must declare your dog to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer at the port of entry and present it for inspection. CBSA can refuse entry if the animal is undeclared, appears ill, or if the officer has any concerns. No vaccination certificate or health certificate is required by federal CFIA regulations for dogs from rabies-free or low-risk countries.
