Documents

CDC Dog Import Form
Required for all dogs entering the USA.
Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip
A Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip form from your Mexican veterinarian, endorsed by an official government veterinarian in Mexico.

Tests

Rabies titer test OR 28-day quarantine after US revaccination
Dogs vaccinated outside the USA must either: (a) have a passing rabies titer test (≥ 0.5 IU/ml, blood sample at least 30 days after vaccination and 28+ days before US entry) from an approved lab, OR (b) be examined and revaccinated at a CDC-registered animal care facility upon US arrival and undergo 28-day quarantine.

Microchip

Microchip (required before rabies vaccination)
All dogs from high-risk countries must have a microchip. The rabies vaccination must be administered after microchip insertion.

Other Requirements

Minimum age: 6 months
Dogs must be at least 6 months old at the time of entry into the USA.
Entry through approved US port + CDC-registered facility
Must arrive through an approved US port of entry and present the dog for examination at a CDC-registered animal care facility.
