Flying with a Dog from Portugal to Germany — Requirements

The dog must have a current rabies vaccination recorded in the EU Pet Passport. The dog must be at least 12 weeks old at the time of vaccination. A 21-day waiting period applies after the primary vaccination course before travel. No waiting period is required after a booster if there has been no break in cover.

Dogs moving between EU member states must travel on a valid EU Pet Passport issued by an authorised veterinarian. The passport records the microchip number, owner details, vaccination history, and any treatments. No separate health certificate is required for intra-EU movement.

The dog must be implanted with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchip. Microchipping must be performed before the rabies vaccination.
