Vaccinations

Rabies vaccination (dogs over 4 months)
Current rabies vaccination required for dogs over 4 months of age. Dogs under 4 months are exempt.

Documents

Animal Export Health Certificate (Apostilled)
An export animal health certificate for small species issued by the official sanitary authority of the USA (USDA APHIS-endorsed). Must certify the dog is in good health and has a current rabies vaccination (for dogs over 4 months). Must be apostilled (USA is a Hague Convention member) or authenticated by the Panamanian Consulate.

Quarantine

40-day home quarantine
Your dog must stay within the premises of your home for 40 days after arrival. A fee of B/.130.00 (USD $130) per animal is paid in cash on arrival at the airport. During quarantine: no contact with domestic or wild animals. Consult a vet for an immunization and nutrition program.

Other Requirements

Advance arrival notification (3 business days)
Notify MINSA of your pet's arrival at least 3 business days in advance by completing the Home Quarantine Request form. Submit to cam@minsa.gob.pa or the MINSA office at Tocumen International Airport.

On arrival, present all documents to the MINSA Zoonosis Control Department veterinarian at the airport for document and physical verification.
